His Early Life
Rufus was born as the son of William John Frederick and Jo. His father William worked as an animator on “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”, a segment of animation for the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine film.
His ancestry is of Anglo-Australia (English Australian).
Sewell’s mother Jo is a classically trained pianist and hasher origins in Wales. But unfortunately, Sewell’s parents divorced while he was five years old.
Later, his father passed on when Sewell was only ten years old.
Sewell’s mother lived at her parent’s home at The Pelican, Laughame, and Carmarthenshire.
Trafalgar Junior School was where Sewell schooled at. He left that school in 1978. At Trafalgar he was a member of drama club and played the lead in Rumpelstiltskin (a German fairy tale) which he acted while kneeling down throughout the show.
At secondary level he attended Orleans Park School, in Twickenham area of the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and left in 1984.

Rufus Sewell’s breakthrough happened in 1993 when he played in a film known as “Dirty Weekend”. He starred as Tim on the Michael Winner film.
Michael had noticed his acting talent in a play at Criterion Theatre.
In 1993 he starred on BBC serial of “George Eliot’s Middlemarch”.
Sewell is famous for his criminal behavior roles as seen in A Knight’s Tale, Bless the Child, The Legend of Zorro, Helen of Troy and The Illusionist.
